I've seen those before in Guitar Player ads. The guy from King Crimson plays one. I wouldn't want to use one of those things, it might as well be an entirely different instrument.

I love that thing. That guy's pretty old-school. I think that first one is straight of Gradius.

I recently started tuning my g string down half a step to f#. I like the way the intervals feel with the guitar tuned like this. It feels more symmetrical.

I came up with another cool tapping trick that looks insane to people watching. What you do is, set your left hand up on the high E with your first finger on the twelfth fret and your pinkie on the fifteenth (just for the example) then you tap on the seventeenth fret, release to the fifteenth, then the twelfth, then you reach your right hand over behind your left to tap at the tenth fret (it sounds better if you have it set up a little bit early and pull off with your left hand instead of sounding the note with a tap) then you ascend the figure again and loop it all really fast. In tab, it looks like this: ||:---17---15---12---10---12---15--- | Those things on the ends are supposed to be repeat signs. You can play this with any intervals you want, I like the ones here (E minor pentatonic) or all in minor thirds to give a diminished arpeggio for that Yngwie sound. Dick around with it, it's cool.

Dude, this one time my bass started making all this noise, and i tried to turn it down on my volume knob, but nothing happened. It was like, fuzz. Pretty insane, let me tell you.
