Omar is insane, I really liked how they have an intense style that is all over the place, yet their cds are produced to make everything sound tight as a drum...

I heard Mars on the Alt channel on the digital music channels on TV. I had a hell of a time finding an album anywhere, so I assumed they were a smaller band. Also, anybody know where I can get a Calla album? I've looked freakin' everywhere.

I tried listening to some of their stuff. Can't say I'm a huge fan, but at least it sounds different-- and thats a good thing, cause there's a lot of commercialized shit out there that all sounds the same.

Yeah... every wal mart except the one here apparently. Yeah, The only reson they remidn me of Calla is because I heard them both right in a row on the Alternative channel. Calla is pretty obscure... But yeah, it's all cool, different, original stuff. That's what it's about right there.

They are barely even like each other. They are like none other man, seriously. It's like trying to name a band that isn't a ripoff that sounds like Tool.

Mars Volta sounds like a Galactic Candy Bar.

I was actually goin' for like the hybrid deal, like The Darkness(I BELIEVE IN A THING CALLED LOOOOOOOVE) sounds like Twisted Sister bonded with Queen, but if there's still nothing, then whatever.....

Get Your Hands off of my woman, mutthaaafuuuuckaaah!
The Darkness....I like the darkness even though some of their stuff is cheesy. They can play their instruments, however, and I give them credit for not feeding into the whole trying to sound like every other nu-metal or post-grunge band out there.
They have promise, but a ways to go.

Wow, now we're a pretty far cry away from the Mars Volta, anyway, could any of you Mars Volta fanizzles give me any sort of description of them at all?

I'll try it. They are sort of a screamier, grungier version of the cure, a less electronic version of Radiohead, and a more enjoyable form of Emo. Enojyable is not usually a word I use in a sentence with a new band, but they have been labelled emo.. I guess.. I don't really think they are.. good lyrics and not shredding doesn't make you emo. So yeah. Forget th epart about enojyable form of emo. It's just idfferent stuff.
