Update. Woohoo! Same boring old amp: Just got this kickass Delay Pedal: And my suite guitar, the picture of which I misplaced. If that pun didn't kick your ass, nothing will.

Dale was considering buying a JCM800 25th Anniversary model 2X12 combo off eBay. I had to tell him to go with a Carvin SX300 instead because the JCM800 is a Metal amp. That is one of the best amps of all time, and Dale was going to buy it.

Nope. He bought the cab though. I wish I had known about it. That thing would have been mine.

I need to get another cab. I probably wouldn't even use it unless it sounded better than my Carvin, I would just stack it on top to look imposing.

Why don't you want a full stack?

I don't need eight, 12 inch speakers. I never even need to turn up what I have much past half, but it would just look so cool to have a whole stack.

That makes perfect sense. My next purchse, after the flanger I want, will either be a 2x14 or a 4x12. Probably the 2x12. That, or I might buy a smaller amp for the stereo effects.

i would go with the 4x12. a 14 inch cone is too big for the target frequencies of a guitar

I meant 2x12. My mistake.

Well, I already have a 2x12 combo amp. That's why I'm not sure I need a 4x12.

I liked the decay of my floor tom without the bottom head, but the drum was dead. I put the bottom head back on today and it's the drum of the day probably tomorrow too. I even tuned it well, with a little help from luck. No matter what they tell you, don't use the deafening rings for rock. If they sound bad, it's because they're tuned badly. If you must use rings, trim them down so they're about a centimeter wide. Seriously! You might not like the sound at first, but that's because you fear change. TRUST ME if you can (and if I have any credibility) on these ground rules:
Do not use deafening rings. Always have resonant heads on every drum including the kick. If it sounds bad, wait a week. If it sounds bad still, learn how to tune.
Tell your drummer. These are the sweetest things I've learned about drumming so far.
