Um, the people I look up to in music: It's dorky, but I really like Billy Joel's music. Something about the piano I like, and I've always admired piano players. Of course, A Perfect Circle. Listening to "Fiddle and the Drum" is beautiful. I think that Lhotka should try doing that song one of these days with Chamber or Choir. but I doubt he will. And as for a woman artist I admire, I like Natalie Merchant, of 10,000 Maniacs fame. She has a nice voice and I believe she writes all her lyrics herself.

10,000 maniacs are awesome. Also, that's a really good picture of Maynard. Cheack out that hair. You can tell he's been rocking. In case any of you were wondering, I believe that is his West Point ring on his hand. Yeah, he was in west point. Some more good femal artists are the womanf rom The Cranberries, Tori Amos, Kathleen Endwards, and lots of others. Like Lisa Loeb. That was an alliteration. I win.

I've never heard Lisa Loeb, but I've been meaning to some of her music one day, if only to worship the awesome glasses she wears. Makes me wish I had major eye problems...

I like the one video where she walks around signing. I like the baby doll dresses she wore. Of course I would be mistaken for a 10 year old if I wore them, with the pigtails of course.

woman from The Cranberries, She's insanely anti-Catholic, but still cool, just watch the video for "Zombie," and be able to think she's not an Irish protestant....

Billy Joel is a hell of a musician. It is sorta dorky to like him maybe, but I think he rocks. He made some great music at his peak. Check out his live album "Songs in the Attic". He did the tour when he got irritated that a lot songs that he thought were good weren't getting much attention. Basically the tour is his lesser known songs, but it ended up being his best concert. It's great.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man.
I'd have to add some of my favorite AOR bands....Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, and Styx. Styx is sorta a very uncool band but their Grand Illusion album must be heard. "Man in the Wilderness" and "Castle Walls" rock. Styx wrote some very sappy love songs, but they did some excellent (but I'll admit- dated and kinda uncool) psychedelic artrock. Anyway, I like it.

And then there's R.E.M. They are probably the best band of the mid 90s. Their new stuff sucks, but Automatic for the People and Out of Time kick so much ass. I'm not into their more experimental 80s and 90s stuff tho.

ahhhhh, Styx. My parents are the biggest Styx fans. If you named a few of their songs, I could probbably tell you the lyrics and everything. I just lost my taste for them I guess, having to listen to them in the car on my cross country trip the whole time.

Journey is incredibly awesome. Commercial, yeah, but they wrote a lot of really enduring songs. Very talented group.
Add Jethro Tull to the list. Everything with them is top notch. An amazing band. I mean, hard rock, flutes, strings, its just absolutely wonderful.

the other guys from engine down... as well as cornbread compton. cornbread and keeley kind of stand out. when it came to sunny day real estate i couldn't really seperate them. same with sigur ros. some bands are good because they are together. then some bands have unique characters.

Cornbread had a black Pearl Export before they got ripped off. I believe. Maybe he's always wanted a purple set.
