Passion is passion. That doesn't change. The only thing that changes is what you might be passionate about.

What Yeti meant is passion about just simply kicking ass, not exactly the quality of the lyrics.

Sure there is. I passionately kick ass on the air guitar ALL THE TIME.
I don't know how to explain what passionately kicking ass is. However, if you've seen Rocky II, its the same feeling as when Rocky is running up the steps of the Lincoln Memorial with the crowd cheering. That's how I feel on air guitar. I'm doing something and then freakin' Iron Maiden "Wasted Years" pops into my head, and I pick up my air guitar and begin to shred. It's how Yngwie whatshisname feels when he's totally passionately kicking ass on guitar and caring less about the cheese-o lyrics that are coming out. It's like another freaking dimension, man. When you feel like you can take on the entire Panzer tank division with only a sword and NOTHING CAN POSSIBLY STOP YOU.
This is passionate ass-kickery. This is rock and roll.

kicking ass because of the passion is what you guys mean. you can't kick ass unless you're passionate about what you're doing.

Sometimes you just kick ass out of necessity. Asses present themselves and demand to be kicked.

You're not saying what you mean then. What Ande says.. vvv kicking ass because of the passion is what you mean. you can't kick ass unless you're passionate about what you're doing. Most of the time. Again, you can be naturally talented and everything just comes easy and you take what you can do for granted. Then you have the option of fake passion. I think the difference is appreciation and care.

as iv said twice now, there are different kinds of passion. the passion where you just like to do something, and the passion of pouring your soul into writing a song that expresses how you feel. im saying the second passion isnt needed. no one ever said the first passion wasnt, so im not exactly sure what your arguing about

Don't talk of things you know nothing about. Do you know what a "pedant" is?

Obviously there are bunch of different types of passion. But I think that true musical passion is seeing the song from it's birth, writing the song, producing it, recording it, and finally performing it. "Fake passion" is to each it's own. I think that we call music we don't like "fake" because it doesn't connect to us, but to another person, they may feel it, and the passion is real. Like I said, to each their own.

About being passionate about kicking ass, how can you not see it? All you have to do is think about something other than music to see it. For example, when I get going in a sparring match in karate, nothing but training and passion drive me to do the very best I can to succeed. It would appear that Time and Ande are talking about only being able to release passion in music when your putting everything you have behind the music. It would also appear that Shawn and Alex are talking about kicking esoteric ass and then just throwing music in for the hell of it, which is just fine. Passion can apply to anything you do. Fake passion doesn't exist, if you're going to put enough effort into making people think you're being passionate, then you're putting for all your passion into deceiving people, but the passion is still there.
