Dude, I applied and interviewed for the guitar job in December. They said I was definitely going to get the job and that I would start in the beginning of January. So far...nothing.

There was an ad in the paper today for a barista(o?) needed immediately at Mill Bay Coffee. We could be rivals! Hehe.

Haha. I saw on the job board there is a full time position open at harborside too. But I've heard they're not too into hiring dudes.

That's probably to replace Megan, though I'm not sure when she's leaving. I'm going to miss her.
Anyway, we had a guy work there for about a month... Brian Leevy, Ms. Dillard's son. He went to school for opera, so I was always excited to be working with him so we could talk about it. I was pretty...I can't think of a word for it... "very interested though not in a romantic sort of way" in him and I thought he was a really awesome guy. However, I guess all of the other girls (with the exception of Meg) didn't like him at all and thought he was pretty feminine. I never caught onto that though, as naive as I am. So in the end he decided to go back to college even though he had told our boss that he'd be staying until March or something and I haven't seen him since.
I still thought it was pretty cool having a guy work there, especially one that knew opera. And being a girl, I would definitely rather have my coffee made by a nice guy rather than some other girl, so I'd say go for it Ande. Hehe.

Hehe. Brian leevy was a pretty cool dude, and sorta feminine i guess.... though he definitely didn't bat for the other team or anything.
A friend of mine is actually trying to talk me into applying there. I'm not sure if I will though. I'm looking for something full time...kinda hoping for blockbuster or safeway right now, although the seafood processors are my plan B.

Probably Carrie. I know she really wanted downtown but didn't get it so she'll probably take over for Megan after she leaves.

Hehe. Brian leevy was a pretty cool dude, and sorta feminine i guess.... though he definitely didn't bat for the other team or anything. he misinterpreted something i said one time and he started yelling and shoved me a couple times. i don't remember how it turned out. i think i had to explain myself before things got out of hand. he was pretty on edge at that time i think. he seems like a good guy to me though. raised by bonnie, it would be a feat to turn him into a bad guy

It was probably something you said/did. Martine runs a very tight ship over there and holds her business to a really high standard. She can be an ass...you just gotta do things her way and be very careful.

All I did was walk in and told the girl making coffee that I had an interview. Jessica Campbell got fired because she went to camp woody.
I dislike Mill Bay Coffee place. Strongly.

Jessica Campbell got fired because she went to camp woody. There must be more to the story than that...

Jessica was working there a while, and told whoever owns the place that she would be going to camp woody. She was told if she went she would be fired, period. Came woody came up, and she went. Thus got fired.

I have a hard time believing that anybody in their right mind would fire somebody for going to a camp. Maybe they needed her really bad during that time or something. This is why hearsay is always a tough one.
But anyway, I know ande's looking for something part time. I interviewed for the Mill Bay Job about 3 weeks ago. I needed something full time, though, and they needed somebody part time in late february/marchish. Martine was pretty nice to me. Sure, she was pretty frank and upfront with me, but she was still pretty nice.
Oh, and I'm getting this shagadellic 'do cut tomorrow. Sad, sad times.

i've heard similar things about mill bay from my brothers and a few friends. it has never left anything but a bitter taste in their mouths. martine, in her right mind, would fire someone under those circumstances
is she a relative of yours? you seem a bit defensive

No, but I've met her on several occasions, and she's always been nice to me. She seems to really care about how her business is run, and its one of the highest class businesses in town, what can I say.
Besides, there's always part of the story you don't hear in hearsay. I'm just careful not to believe everything I hear.
