from what i gather, math rock is 20 year old men who grew out of emo and pop punk but still want to be trendy, so they make gay music and expect people to listen to it not because it has lots of emotion or anything but because it is in time signatures other than 4/4. that is funny to me. Math rock will appeal more to musicians and people who regularly hang out with musicians (drummers and Andy Schmitt) because they are the ones that can more appreciate the communication and unison the band exhibits in the half-times and oddly placed time signatures. But too mathy, and it's just stupid. Tasteful musical mathy stuff is so rocking though. Faraquet, Treasures... um... maybe I'll post a couple others if I remember them in a more relevant thread.

so people like it because they can appreciate the talent and effort, not because its good music?

What was that song where the chorus was "Oh god I've never been this far from home"?

Do you know any more of the chorus? Maybe I'd have to hear the chorus.

The name of that song is "Oh My God" by the Kaiser Chiefs. A kickass new band out of Leeds.
Sorry about the toadies. I know its a sin, I totally forgot. Wyatt and I are doing roots rock and reggae tomorrow night. My last show until August.
