Despite how kickass it would be, the drive up to pillar would not be healthy for drums and amplifiers. And if it's raining? What then? quite being a wuss, dude. your guitar can handle that unsubstantial pressure change. so can everyone's drums and amps. your gear has grown up. they're not babies anymore. they're ready for rock whenever and wherever they're called upon. just tune up when you get there, or just use a beater guitar. like a nice snare, no one cares if you have nice tone in an outdoor live show with generators grumbling around as backup

Pillar mountain would rule for a concert.

just think of all the kick ass action shots of everyone playing on top of a mountain over looking the gorgeous ocean. we need like a crane so we can get some overhead shots.... oh man.. i need to shut up. haha
the more i think about it, the more i decide how much pillar mountain would rule.

If it's anything like the Darkness' "Love is only a feeling" video where they are playing on a cliff over a gorge, it'd be sweet.

Oh man! Shawn, you reminded me of one of my favorite Arena Rock songs ever! "More than a Feeling" by BOSTON! I love this song. It's got the hugest happy vibe ever.

You guys are right. I need to quit whining. I have the perfect beater guitar that actually looks more badass than my main instrument. I would play pillar if for no other reason than the kickass pictures I would get from it.

Okay, I just thought of something else. Say we have an outdoor show. Are we going to charge admission? The problem there is this: how are we going to collect from everyone? Are we going to get barricades? Another things. What if a bunch of assholes decide to show up completely smashed? That's not safe. We need to get this worked out. This is why the Teen Center might be a better option. We can check people at the door, and if they are obviously fucked out of their skulls, we can turn them away. I don't know about you guys but I don't want to be moshing around with a bunch of drunk assholes who have little or no judgement and are going to hurt people. Many bands these days do not allow alchohol to be brought to their events. Not to say it doesn't happen, but at least they try to stop it. I won't be a part of anything where someone could get hurt because we weren't careful enough. The other problem with Pillar or Near Island: moshing on gravel. Not a good idea. So yeah. Thoughts?

Just need to find a good bunker to play in. They had some pretty sweet concerts back here in the 70s in the bunkers. Haha, i think the acoustics would be shitty as hell though.
Yeah, if its anywhere other than the teen center or HS, there will be smashed folks showing up. Either need some good bouncers, or have it at the teen center. I hate that place, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

jesus christ forrest, its unsafe if drunk people show up? did you not notice that more than a few people were drunk at sock full of steel? it was plenty safe then, and it will be just as "safe" outdoors.

We weren't moshing at Sock Full of Steel. Maybe you've never been around drunk people, but I have observed that they aren't safe or intelligent. At all. Any show I organize is going to have precautions against such issues. I respect your opinion, but this is how it's going to be. There will be precautions. If that means using the Teen Center, that's fine with me. I am going to do my best to make sure nobody gets hurt at any event I organize.

Forrest is 100% correct on this one. No doubt about it. Having drunk people at shows is probably not the best idea. Granted, if there drunks at the last show, they were pretty well behaved, but they probably weren't THAT drunk.
The point is, in this freaking country, everybody wants to sue each other's asses. We can't have drunk people getting hurt...unless you get Earle's Court or something.
