I'm not sure I understand...is that blue one a zombie? Or does that yellow one just kick ass severely?

He's not smiling, his jaw was torn off leaving a gaping, smill-shaped void in his face.

Metal is an overload of noise, but somehow Radiohead is worth listening to? Explain that, Tucker, and you win a prize...your life.[/quote]
There's an underlying assumption here. I'm not a fan of radiohead and I haven't heard much of his/their stuff so I can't critique. By noise, I mean noteless sounds like those found in heavy overdrive.

But if you can't identify the notes in the metal you're listening to because of too much overdrive, chances are you're listening to the wrong sort of metal. It may not even be metal at all. Listen to guys like Iron Maiden, Manowar, Yngwie Malmsteen, Black Sabbath, Racer X, Megadeth (the old stuff), or Annhilator for some quality, musical metal. (Edited: the quotes aren't working right)

i don't think you get me
i'm kind of saying that maiden isn't metal in my opinion. i'ven't heard those other guys, but I'm not into metal and awesoming with metal. I'm into awesoming with melodic rock and my own originality.
from what i know is metal, it sucks. maiden does not suck, therefore i don't think they're metal. it goes both ways

I believe the music you're thinking of is called "shit." Metal is about melody and heaviness blended together with a little bit of Satanism to produce the perfect music. Check out someone like Manowar (whose best album is called "Kings of Metal") and notice that they aren't as heavy as Maiden. Since you admit to not having studied metal that closely, take my word for it. Iron Maiden is the textbook definition of heavy metal.

maiden is a bit of a novelty thing for me too. really, when people sing in falsetto about mideavel times and the devil and burning villages, it makes me laugh. it's kind of like fantasy books, only for your ears...some people really get into those fantasy books...and...well...i'll stop...but i think i'd kind put metal heads into a similar croud as those fantasy book role playing kids. maybe illiterate fantasy book-role playing kids.
run to the hills, kid-o. run for your life.

You know.. the funny thing is, I play D&D, and my friends and I have had the same discussion. THE EXACT SAME ONE. Maiden has some really good lyrics, too. Check out "Brave new World," "Dream of Mirrors," "Pashcendaele," for just a few.

By "cool" I mean "good." Not "good," but good.
