wow, you metal kids flared up like a couple of emo kids with their feelings hurt. did i hurt someones feelings? i was just playing really...but there is a high ratio of mullets to metal lovers....just an observation. and i would honestly question your emotional i.q., i doubt it is up to par. 165 is pretty rocking though, bravo smartypants.
shaking things up,
peace

I wrote a mullet concept album, what do you expect? But as far as this thread goes, I think you're asking for some trouble.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. When did we flare up? Which metal kids? Was it on this website? What the hell is emotional IQ? True or false? Which hand has the dollar in it? Why is this worth an entire thread? Given a choice between good and evil, how many pancakes are in the moon? I can keep going, but I won't.

Oh, okay, I read where the "flare ups" were. Isn't it a bit strange that the guy questioning IQs still hasn't figured out capitalization or apostrophes. It's not that hard, man, just push that shift button.

Thank you, Nic. I appreciate acknowledgements and am thankful you didn't write "lol." Now, tell me, you're a former metalhead turned emo, what's the difference? I hope to God I never find out for myself.

It seems quite obvious by your lack of capitals that you are exceedingly emo. Don't deny it, I'm not here to judge your life choice, just tell me how it feels.

When you used no capitals as a metalhead, you were sailing under false colors. That's a hanging crime on the high seas. But you said you were a metalhead, what are you now?

That is saddening news, Nic. What happened? You used to be a quite slamming metal guitarist.

Changed from awesome to nothing? What do you play now? I really haven't changed my style at all, except that I spent the summer practicing for about five or six hours a day so I'm alot better now. I'm also more into old-school thrash, like Slayer and Megadeth. Iron Maiden are still God, though.

well, i never practice anymore. i gave up on trying to be great, it took to much time, and there was no practical use for the skill i was aquiring. now i just write songs. if im feeling down, ill write a sad song, if im feeling real good and enthused, ill write a metal song. just feels nice to actually do something with the little talent i have.

agreed, i gave up on being a great guitarist too... i havent really learned any new skills on guitar in about a year and a half. i just use what i have because its enough to get by with the kind of music i play.

I can respect you guys, you're good musicians and I like you. But still, whether you think you need to or not, practicing is worth it. Think about it, what if you are inspired to write something really complex and difficult, but you can't do it because you don't practice? Well then, not practicing is limiting your expression. Even if you don't play the most technical stuff in the world, everything you play will sound better with more practice.

There is so much more out there than metal. Listening to and playing metal will lead you to missing out on a lot of good stuff, in my opinion.

I don't only play or listen to metal, it just happens to be my favorite style. I both listen to and play jazz, blues and classical music. I am in a jazz/rock band (outside of school, we need a name, post suggestions here: ktownmc.proboards37.com/index.cgi?board=music&action=display&thread=1101620933) and I use classical etudes as warm-up exercises. Every guitar student I have learns the twelve-bar-blues format and how to improvise with it. I would consider myself sufficiently well-rounded.

really i don't care anymore. i could care less how good i played or anything just because it's boring. being able to play a fast solo got old, and wasn't exciting anymore. i'll do it everyonce in a while maybe, but i haven't in maybe three weeks or so. i like seeing what kind of sounds i can make and what i can do with finger picking and stuff.
