Everyone that played and everyone that was involved- you were all (as a great man once said) AWESOME. I was sad that I missed out on the Tonedeaf Sock Puppets and whatever other band played at the beginning (I couldn't get off work fast enough), but I'm sure you were great. I was especially blown away by Time for Tea and Necropolis! Damn, our school is so talented. (What were with Thor's lyrics? I bet Meade wasn't too happy about that.) I say there should definitely be another one of these before the year ends, especially since I think I'll be gone by music fest (nooo!)... It was really, really great guys. Thank you, Forrest! EDITED: to say that The Dude played the most killer air guitar I've ever seen and he's totally hot. Nice to meet you finally! EDITED AGAIN: Psst- the lights looked awesome!

I knew what he said at the concert, but as I type, paralized from the neck down, I only remember he ended it with his "...your mother is a whore," and the next one was something about the father. Forrest was disturbed about those guys. It was an awesome concert.
That was some killer air guitar moves. Awesome man!

yeah, the show turned out great. better than i was hoping. i'd have to say that the act i was most impressed with, was yaefer. you guys gotta hand it to him, he did a really good job. way better than i was expecting. his recording turned out pretty well too. probably the best of the whole show. leedy was tearing it up with the super groove operators and necropolis. both those bands had their technicalities down. and mr. the dude put a good show on for everyone with his air guitar antics. the hair was totally awesome. gah, i'm exhausted, i can barly think now.. i'll add more tomorrow.

ok. i'd also like to say that overall the show went pretty smoothly. we had some snags when we didn't know where the docenas were and why they didn't tell anybody that they were going to be late, but it worked out in the end. time wise it went phenomenally. every band played under their time and we ended up finishing with three minutes to ten... and we started five minutes late. that was one of the nice surprises of the show. every one ate good before the show. i've never seen four pizzas disappear so fast in my life. sound check was awesome and i think we got dialed pretty well. logan said something about not being able to hear the drums at times, but i don't know. i suppose we also had a few problems with the PA because adjustments have to be made for every band. but all in all it went pretty well.
tonedeaf sock puppets got us off to a good rocking start. it just took a while for the audience to get out of that horse shoe and get down to the floor. super groove operators really kicked it and got people dancing. i wish they were around while hotwire was still together... a show with both those bands would be amazing. winter's apathy i think surprised everyone and played above most everybody's expectations. you couldn't really stand anywhere near the PA speakers though. then ryan did a pretty good job with his solo act up there. he was pretty nervous before, but he did very well. i'm(we're) looking forward to maybe playing an acoustic show with him sometime at the fly-by or something. all EXCEPT one (i seem to always call you against one, or i write out "accept" instead of "except") did a pretty good job for their first show. i understand that it was pretty much a practice in of itself. time for tea did a farely decent job, but we all feel we could have done much better. inter silva rocked pretty hardcore. asa's vocals were pretty frickin' good. the defacadets were pretty amusing. i got a kick out of the fact that they stopped the show to play a game of shirades. and then necropolis gave us a mighty ending with leedy going all out on vocals (i think he left some intestinal track on the floor) and guitar. pretty good for practicing for the first time that day with their replacement drummer.
so all in all, a good show.

i think the defacadets truly did invent a new genre, death punk. or ultra thrash punk, or something like that. they were probably the most energetic band, and they had some pretty funny stuff. justin needed to play raining blood.

I have no idea what my voice sounded like. If we do this again, someone had better put a vocal monitor up there so I can hold back a little and know what you're all hearing. I remember switching between restrained singing and just thrashing screaming. Maybe that's not what it sounded like. I have no idea. I think we're gonna stick with Jackson on the drums so if someone wants to make a Kodiak Galaxy page for NECROPOLIS they should make it Justin Leedy, Andy Banker and Jackson Bolger.

The OFFICIAL review of Sock Full of Steel:
Tonedeaf Sockpuppets: Forrest is cool, but the band wasn't good at all. sorry forrest. and the drummer was really really shitty. it was like me playing the drums. seriously.
SG Operators: Freakin awesome.
Winters Apathy: Terrible. People don't listen to that shit past 8th grade.
Yaefer: He ruined a lot of good Against Me songs, and ruined some songs that were bad to begin with.
AE 1: There dirty guitar player is cool.
Time for Tea: Blister in the Sun was one of the coolest things of the night.
Inter Silva: Again...Forrest is cool but not that great. And Asa is dumb. Whatever..at least they only had one song.
Defacadets: FUCKING INSANE. God we rocked. We are the best band I have ever heard. Ever. In my life. That was the most fun I've in a long time.
Necropolis: Didn't watch them, but of course they were awesome. They rock.
The End
and dont bother telling me my opinions are wrong, because their not.

I walked in right after Inter Saliva started. They weren't terrible, but I'm not the biggest fan of Pushit.
The Defacadets. They weren't bad when they weren't singing. They definitely got me pumped, and I liked where they attempted to use a trumpet. That was pretty cool.
Necropolis. Considering they haven't practiced too much, I heard some of the most faithful reproductions of Maiden Songs Ever. You guys totally rocked "Wicker Man". "The Trooper" was another standout. All you guys need is another lead guitarist, in addition to Leedy (great job on the solos by the way, dude) so you can rock the dual guitar attack. Oh, and great job to the drummer and the Bassist on that one. You guys seriously rocked my fucking fucking socks and hair off. Literally. I'm so sore today.
I'm proud of being up there with you guys and pumping the audience (making a ass of myself, probably). That was so incredibly awesome.
I'll definitely go to another concert if you guys have another.
UP THE IRONS!!! I'm listening to the Wicker Man right now.

We used to have another guitarist. In fact, it was Nic Lechner of nikosbmx fame on this very website. That was when we were called Drawn and Quartered and we could do all those harmonies and trade-off solos. But now Nic is in California and everyone up here either isn't good enough to handle the Maiden stuff, or they don't like it, or both. I know Ande could do it, but I don't think he would really enjoy playing only Metal with us, Valentin could probably do it (and how awesome would it be to have right and left-handed guitar players doing harmonies side-by-side?) but he says he doesn't play lead so I'm stuck playing the Dave Murray half of the harmonies and wishing we had an Adrian Smith. Andy and Jackson do a pretty good Steve Harris and Nicko McBrain, but I am no Bruce Dickinson as anyone at the show last night can attest.
After the set, however, Andy Banker (bass) told me that it felt so cool to have The Dude up with us playing air guitar. I agreed with him. It added a whole new level of passion to the show. From now on, NECROPOLIS will always feature a guest air-guitarist when one is availabe.

Hmmm...I could attempt to help sing with you guys too, but I'd have to practice a little. Actually probably a lot.

The show was sweet. If my Amp hadn't totally been sucking and my strap hadn't broken, our Pushit cover would have been like 700 times better. The Tonedeaf Sock Puppets sucked, but I think we did pretty well considering the fact that our guitarist got back from a week long trip on Thursday and our drummer got back at 10:00 Friday evening. My vocals just sucked. I don't care. Singing "Shove" was fun. Everybody else was awesome. Winter's Apathy.. what can I say? The music sucked. They sounded good though. They had it together. Everybody was awesome. Thor really pissed me off with whatever the hell song that was he was singing. At least Meade didn't hear it. I apologized to him after their set, as they should have. Maybe Thor thought I was joking when I told him to keep swearing to a minimum. Evrybody was so awesome. I wasn't sure how to respond to Time for Tea's first song.. I just sort of stood there. It was awesome though. Necropolis rocked as always. I did more damage to my body during that show than I did during the entire rest of the concert.

Glad we could help, Forrest.
Shawn, that would kick so much ass. You realize, of course, that you would have to wear that wig at every show, right? I think we're going to start practicing regularly so we could play more songs at the next concert, probably mostly originals with plenty of Maiden covers mixed in.

I said to keep it down, and I explicitly said to not swear more than like two or three times. You guys were out of line. Period. It's no big deal because it's the past, but you can stop defending yourselves.
